Awe dang and here I was thinking about finding a different hat to make a new avatar..... now I have to keep the one I have already.

The red color won't stay long. Uv bleaches it out pretty quickly. I've sawn a few large ones up with great color, and by the time they were dry it was gone.

It may hold when indoors, and maybe if it's protected under some good uv coating... But I've never seen it stay red.

Best I've seen is a slight red tinge here and there, but most of the red turns a shade of brown.
