Riser design suggestions

So I picked up a small block of stabilized ambrosia maple today at the expo in Kalamazoo. The dimensions are, 1 and 5/8” thick, 2 and 3/4” wide, by 11 and half inches long. I’d love to make a shortish 3 piece takedown. What’s everybody’s thoughts on the possibilities for this piece of wood? It’s that or I chop it up and laminate it back together to make a heck of a nice turkey call. Thanks for the input.

I have not made many 3pc. bows but 11" sounds pretty damn short...  You have to get pretty inventive with it to make it work...

yeah 11" is very short for a riser. You have 4" just for your palm so that only leaves 7" remaining or 3.5" each end to mount your limbs. I think the shortest that I have ever gone is 12" and it was too short. the bottom of my hand was actually contacting the bottom limb.

You could get another block or maybe G10 and use it to do inlays front and back.
Here’s an example from blacktail’s website.


Yes it’s a 1 piece but I’ve seen 3 piece done same way. 
 Hope that helps some.

I am thinking 13 at least. you could use it like the blacktail design or a cresent on the belly with a longer main piece.

I been working on a shorter riser. The block you got would work for something like this one. You could drawl it up to fit your own needs.

That’s a great looking riser.  I hope I get there some day.  Every detail is sharp, and nothing there detracts from the overall effect.

I thought about laminating a little more length on each end with a different wood. That might happen. I'd just hate to chop this piece of wood up.
