I think I am going to go with this glass. Making an ASL is like taking your Camry to the auto show. I thought about going Pink, but decided to stay on theme, so it's going to be this Black Cherry glass.

Thanks Dave. Yeah it's real dark. Depending on how the light hits it, the color changes from that Bing color to almost black.

I have cherry in my risers. It’s from a large piece that I’ve had at least 30 years. When I cut into it, it smells like cherries.
I got my second glue up done now. I’ll post a picture after I get them cleaned up.
Now I have a question. Both risers are made up of cherry and zebra wood with maple and walnut accents. I’m thinking of adding an I beam, but I’m not sure what to use. It will show on the back and belly and possibly in the sight window.
What would look good? I have a lot of wood to choose from. I was thinking of pau ferro, but I also have maple, walnut, red and white oak, cherry. There’s more, but I just can’t remember off hand. I’d welcome any opinions on this.
Dave.

Shot a couple arrows thru my victims bow tonight. Limbs are straight and she seems fairly stabile. Could only get it to just over 6 1/2 inch brace height with the string I had. Seems quick but might be a bit aggressive, have to see how she acts when I get another inch of brace height.

Handle overlay came out fine. Here I have used the Exel glass from Finland.

Dave. Dark woods like Pau Ferro and Walnut would make a nice I beam I think.
The first would probably be the strongest, but some finishes will not dry on that stuff, at least on the one I have tried.

Yeah the Pau Ferro is oily. The walnut we got here would not make a good ibeam unless it was stabilized. Bue that glass looks really clear. And a nice riser.

You over achievers are doing an excellent job of making me look bad...I do know what I'm building and I have my lams ready to go.

I was hesitant to enter the swap this year because I'm in the middle of moving into my new workshop.  I'm almost there though.  I'll build a miter saw station this weekend, and then I can let the dust fly, and hopefully it ends up at the bottom of my collection system  :goldtooth:

Your shop looks great! Nice job. Did you have to run some copper in the PVC, to dissipate the static?

Thanks.
No, I didn't run a ground wire.  I read enough about the subject and felt comfortable that it wasn't a big issue.  I haven't had static buildup in the few times I've run the system so far.  :o
The fact that the dust collector and all of the tools hooked to it are properly grounded, I'm really not worried about it.

How about a close up of your dust collection system in the corner there?

And your shop is too clean:)

Ya sure you make bows in there?:)

I haven't built a thing in my new shop.  I moved my stuff in on Sunday night  :goldtooth:

That's a modified harbor freight dust collector hooked to a dust deputy, exhausted to outside through my soffit.  I'll grab a pick tonight.

I'm trying to figure out where to mount a hot box like you have there.  I'm already running out of wall space.
Your shop seems to have filled out nicely. :)
