I used 2 components PU finish in rattle can. Works great with that brand. Though finish too

I have Shellac and have worked with it some. My experience is that, regardless of how I apply it, it globs on really thick and never seems to dry correctly so I end up stripping it back off and starting over. Can it be thinned?

It's better if cut with alcohol.  I cut it about 50/50 with denatured and sand it in hard.  It will still be gloppy but when it's cured it's easy to sand out.  I use the zinser bullseye clear.  The Amber will give an Amber undertone which is fine if you want that.

There's much classier shellac out there in dry form.

But, I think Kenny gave you the best solution.  Whole thing done in an hour and a half.

It's my first attempt at a gwass bow Roy, I was gonna call you and ask how green you could use it...

It's pretty thin backing right now tho, will probably peel off.... :biglaugh:

Ya have my # son.

Ya gotta use the good double sided tape and laminate both sides of the gwass before glue up and sprinkle 10-10-10 on it @ 1 pound per foot of lamination.

Well I made up a super ugly calico string for my picks bow tonight and stuck on a rest. It's ready to goto a new home. I need to get it out of here before I decide to keep it for myself. There's a reason and a story why I finished it so quickly but that will have to wait.
