I don't have a ground on my collection system either, but think I may put one on it. when the bags get close to full once in awhile it will have a static spark jump to machine.

My shop is in the basement. Ran copper wire just in case. I like the dual hose connection on your bandsaw.

I finally made it out to the shop today. I decided against using the yew stave I had dug out and instead pulled out a pair of yew billits. Got the bark scraped off and will get the layout drawn on tonight so I can rough em out tomorrow. Hope my victim likes yew.

So what does the copper do for you. I have heard that the static will shock you.. Other than that causing a fire probably not.

I got my sister risers sanded this afternoon. The next step is to glue in an I beam. Here are the risers and a nice piece of pau ferro. I’m thinking a 1/4” or 3/8” thick I beam and let it show in the sight window.

Plan A came a tragic end today, kinda bummed. So here is the back story. I drilled and tapped the holes for inserts but a dry run showed that the alignment was off very slightly on each limb (half to figure that out later), so I plugged and re-drilled and got the same thing (hmmmmph!!!). I also noticed that the inserts had a slight bit of play in them so I put it all together and snugged it down. With that I put a clamp on the riser and limb and could pull the limbs in alignment. I even took the bolts out and back in while clamped to make sure I could. Perfect, so I put some epoxy on the inserts, bolted it all down, put the clamps on to hold everything straight and let'r set.

Pause for Roy to finish laughing so he can hear the rest of the story......

Well as I am sure everyone has guessed, somewhere in all this I got some epoxy on one of the limb bolts. NEVER underestimate the strength of 5 minute epoxy, it even broke a hex head impact socket.

The good news is that the limbs are aligned perfectly and it will still make a purty bow, it just won't be a three piece takedown, more like one and a half.

Off to Plan B.

It's supposed to eliminate the possibility of static in the PVC. I have it run from each pipe end to the vacuum body.

I only shoot good 1/2 the time Lonnie - ship it !

That’s too bad Lonnie. It’s a nice bow.
It isn’t likely that a static spark will start a fire, but there is a slight chance. Especially if there’s a lot of fine sawdust in the system. My big planer generates a pretty good charge when I run wide white pine boards through. It can be annoying.

Fine dust can explode although I have never heard of it happening in a home system. A few decades ago we had a grain elevator hear in KC go up, quite the ordeal.

Geeze Lonnie. Really makin me feel like a slacker. You’ve already bugered a beautiful plan A and movin on to plan B. I haven’t even finalized my plan A yet.

I do know it will have some walnut lams in it. Still trying to decide whether to use them as veneers or cores. Hmmmm. Who thinks edge grain walnut is purty?

Well hoping to jump ahead this weekend. Got 5 days with no wife or kids around. Going to the bow building group Thursday and hoping to get my template cut out and splices cut. Here we are in February and it already feels like crunch time LOL.

Jealous of some of the work shown so far. Definitely gonna be some nice bows going round.

As far as all the nonchalant asking of opinions, I haven’t seen anything I dislike yet.

Lonnie, I glued a limb bolt in like that once. I took a hex drive socket like you broke and stuck it in the limb bolt. I then took a butane torch and heated the socket for a good amount of time. The heat transferred well enough to release the epoxy, it didn't even mess up the plastic washer. I had used smooth on, might be worth a try. That's a sharp bow.
