Well I ran into a little problem this morning. Glued a limb up last night for my victims bow and pulled it out of the oven this morning. Took it out of the form and cleaned the edges up and started removing the tape. The back of the the limb looked really good. Loved the look of the veneers I got from Kenny. Turned the limbbober and started to peel the tape from the belly of the limb and noticed immediately something didn’t look right.  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: I flipped the veneer and the lam and didn’t realize it! No matter how many times I went over in my head how to lay up this limb I still screwed it up.

It looks like the maple is on the belly side and I agree with others, if it were for me that would not bother me a bit. Just give your best PeeWee Herman "I meant to do that" and duplicate on the other limb.

Just hold on, I have the leftover from those lams , will have Dannon back in biz shortly!

I’ve not worked on my poor victims bow for some time , seems I’ve been snowed under with other stuff . When was that deadline , October 32?  :biglaugh:
Stay sharp, Kenny.

I seriously thought about going ahead and using the limb like it was and just matching the other one. I just hate that I let those nice veneers go to waste!

Thanks Kenny! Seems if I’m not breaking a veneer I’m gluing one up wrong! :dunno:

Dannon.... I'd be happy as is. The maple belly still looks nice

Made some progress too. Time for the tree and get to the riser.

A couple streaks in the glass so I might try skinning the bow with sumthin cool. Should be shooting this weekend
I have a plan B if I end up not liking the skin

Thanks gentlemen
First ASL, I-beam, and maybe a skin. Draws smooth so far but about 12# over weight. Just might come in a tad heavy. Plan B will be a hybrid as I have made a few of those

Curious why you put in a I-beam? Cosmetic or structural?

2 reasons Flem. I'd never done one before and I'm hoping the color will have a nice "pop" when exposed in the shelf.
Working my way towards a 2-piece bow (on purpose  :saywhat:)

I just received an order from Kenny with black phenolic and spalted hackberry.

Gonna whip me up a riser with the black phenolic as the I beam inside the hackberry for a trilam.

I just gotta do a dry run of sorts to get it laid out so the phenolic ends up being in
the center of the riser at the arrow side plate surface.

Dat make sense?

I don't know how I'm gonna do it yet, but I'm gonna try.

That's as close to a glass bow that I wanna build.

For now:)

Geez Roy... yeah that makes perfect sense, build the bow out of plastic and rotten wood.   You still taking those pain pills?
