Awesome!! It's almost as fun as waiting on my own was

I think we should all be excited about this one. It might be the best of the swap.

I dunno, the one I got is pretty sweet.

I haven't seen a bow being built that someone shouldn't be exited about showing up on their door step.

Cody, did you do scarf joints for a splice?

Yes I did Roy. I need to build a jig for z splices. I was having a heck of a time getting fit right for the z. Will know tonight if I screwed up or if they pass muster.

You don't need a jig.

Lay them out like below, then when you cut them out, just barely leave the lines.

Then get a snug, not tight, fit by sanding a little. Ya need a little gap for glue, maybe 1/64th.

Don't force the joint together or it will split the board.

I use a 1 inch belt sander and can slide the belt inside the cuts and slowly clean them up.

Bamboo, red elm, Osage trilam

As far as my z splice failures, I believe it was more my bandsaw than my ability. I was using some 1/2” pine to do some trial and error. Ryobi discontinued my free saw so I have to order blades online from sources I’m not familiar with. Need to go to wood craft and see if they have one that will fit. If these splices don’t hold up it will set me back a week to do that. Thanks for the info Roy, it’s not in vain just beyond my tools abilities at the moment.

I’m sure you could do it in under a week with a hacksaw.  :biglaugh:
