Still sitting at about 1” of set after ~50 shots. Getting  weight off the tips reduced the shock by quite a bit. Was shooting 400-650g arrows with similar performance and accuracy. Gonna be a shame to ship this one off. Gonna keep some suspense so I apologize in advance to Roy, but no more pictures until she’s done. Gonna get her all dressed up with the details now.

Tried to take a few more scrapes and got my tiller off. Fixed that and now it’s looking good again. Worked the limbs down to 220 grit on the belly and that helped a bit more. Doesn’t seem to be stacking as I feared.

I’m happy with it at this point with the bumps and bruises that happened with my rookie mistakes. Get back at it again tomorrow.

I don’t even remember what I put down for my preferred weight :dunno:

As long as it’s over 40 and below 65 at my draw......then send it.

I have shot the bow I received yesterday and I like it very much.
35 pounds is perfect for this old dude to shoot a 3D round and have fun. Thank you Kenny for making me such a beautiful bow.
I am a happy guy today.

Congrats Bue! That's awesome!

Cody, if it was me and it's shooting well and anywhere even in the ballpark I'd say just get some finish on it and send it. But that's me. Do you have a bathroom scale or a neighbor with one you can check the actual weight on? You might not be as off as you think...

Congrats Bue!  That's a sweet bow.

I think my original request was 50-70 lbs, so I'm good with a big range.  A few lbs one way or the other is ok.

Plan B is out of the clamps and it doesn’t look too bad. After cutting it to profile and smoothing it, I cut in temporary nocks and got a string on it. Tiller is a bit off, but some scraping and sanding should bring it back, and it looks like it will be within parameters. 😁

Well in 12 short hours I’ll know the weight on my bow. Built a proper string for it last night, sorry no hot pink B55 at my house. Noticed I still have one limb that is slightly stiffer than the other but should be rock and roll time. Looks like there will be a few good days next week to spray the finish too.

Bue I am thinking when you take a full draw pic with a Kenny bow you got to carry out tradition and be in your jammie pants    :biglaugh:

Thanks for the encouraging comments!

I really am a little concerned about how light colored the Hickory backing is. If my recipient wants to hunt with the bow it would be pretty bright in the woods. It looks good... but maybe not too useful as a hunting bow.

I have used stains on Hickory before and it takes well. The Mulberry is pretty dark so a dark stain would go good.

Also, what is the general consensus on darkening fresh Osage? I usually just let it age-darken naturally but again... pretty bright on this bow right now.

Let it age naturally. Wood gains beauty with age. Roy..... not so much.

Well, I do not wear jammies, but just to satisfy a couple of fellas I found an old pair in closet, kind of sexy eh?
