Yeah, that's too bad. He was a great bowhunter, writer, and from what I've heard just an all around great guy. The bowhunting community lost a good one.

Indeed a legend has passed.  He was a kind and gentle soul, with a heart of gold.  Enjoyed his story telling very much.

He seemed nearly invincible--practically running up the hills. Sympathy to his family and friends.

Bowhunter staff acknowledges passing of longtime editor Dwight Schuh.

It is with very heavy hearts that the entire Bowhunter staff must acknowledge the passing of our longtime editor, Dwight Schuh, after a long battle with multiple myeloma — the result of exposure to Agent Orange while serving his country in Vietnam. His was a long, valiant fight that only a man as tough as Dwight could sustain. He lost that battle at 2:45 p.m. Feb. 5. He was 73.

When Bowhunter Founder M.R. James retired, he singled out Dwight Schuh as his replacement and Dwight served as Editor for 16 years until he retired in 2009. It was only a few months later when Dwight was diagnosed, and he has been fighting cancer ever since. Dwight was loved by all who worked with him. Publisher Jeff Waring worked with Dwight for 30 years and the man left an indelible mark on him.

“I’ve been blessed to work with wonderful editors,” said Waring, “but Dwight had an unerring editorial compass. When it came to storytelling, he had a knack of getting readers exactly where they needed to go.”

One of the best. Sure wish the Push boys could have had him on before he passed. Loved watching him on tv, he was one of the few really taught something each episode. Rip sir.

I am saddened to see his passing.  Dwight Schuh was one of the small band of leaders who were indeed professional bowhunters, but also in the best way possible.  It is greatly appreciated to see that the cause of his death is shared with us, as these things so often take on a life of their own and add to urban legend. It is both interesting and instructive to see that he worked hard to live an active life despite the MM.  Mr Schuh also exemplified the traits that made him a pleasure to follow: committed, personable, athletic, and passionate about the "sport" that we love.  The famous close call moose hunting video reflects more than his being there: no hooting and hollering, just excitement and enjoyment in the moment.
Men like Mr Schuh are not so much heroes, as examples and reminders of how one can both enjoy life to the fullest, and lead by example. He will be missed
