It certainly is! My Grandfather lived in north Alabama and had lots of Hackberry. It can’t be found in coastal Ms. Look forward to seeing your first limbs.

I’ve never used spalted wood. My understanding is that the wood has a fungus or is partially decayed.
Will it need to be stabilized?

Brad that’s correct but a lot of bows have been built with spalted wood, I’d keep them thin like .030 or less.

It’s all 1” rough and would need stabilized and maybe an ibeam in it .
