Stunning Elkheart Ryan !!! The only thing better then a Javaman is the guy building them. Gregg Coffey is a top notch bowyer and even better man. :notworthy:

I totally agree Bill! I've been a pain from day 1, but he still put a 110% effort into my bow.

What a beaut!!!!....if that's a takedown...what is the type?

Hats off to Gregg....he's donated a lot of bows to great csuses!!!

It looks like it’s a Bow Bolt takedown system, Terry.
Quick, solid connection. Same as I have on my Toelke Pika.

Beautiful bow, Ryan!!

Thank you! Sorry I missed the question Terry. Yes, Ron is correct, it's a bow bolt. First time owning one of these too.

Bocote. I've ordered bows with bocote before, but the veneers weren't as nice as these.

As most of you guys know, Gregg has a great sense of humor and just before he mailed the bow we were both joking around he said, "just unpack the bow and take it hunting".

Well the bow arrived Friday, but I wasn't able to work on it till Saturday.

Early to rise, I started the day by stringing the bow with a new string that I built earlier during the week. (My friend wanted me to test some Majesty 777 in the terrain that I hunt.) Then I picked an arrow and began to shoot a few shots. In all honesty, most new bows that I shoot take some time to get dialed in. Wasn't so for this Elkheart. Immediately it was finding the center of my target. I told myself that if it tunes and I can group it out to 20, I'm taking it hunting tomorrow.

Bareshafting and paper tuning went well, so all that was left was grouping. By the end of the day I was confident out to 20, so the Elkheart was going hunting...

Bow season started in February, but yesterday was our first hunting trip. Of course we had to start off by checking out our favorite ridge. After about two hours of hiking, we started to glass. We first spotted a few feeding on our second favorite area to hunt. I was hoping that we didn't make a bad decision.

We decided to trek on and after thirty minutes, we began to hear some goats to the left of us. I dropped my pack and scurried up the ridge in hopes of finding an intersect point. Fortunately I beat them there and was able to set up. Two nannies were heading right to me. They kept coming on the animal trail right below me. Arrow nocked and bow arm set, I was waiting as patient as possible. At ten yards I drew and at about seven I released the string.
