I got a start on my first bamboo backed hickory bow. This is for a long armed friend so it is hoped to be 73" long NTN.
The boo is now thin edged 1 1/2" wide and cut to shape and length.
The hickory is, also, 1 1/2" wide. I was thinning the limbs last night to prepare it for the reflex/glue up and, as usual, got a bit carried away. Now there are portions of it approaching 5/16" thick near mid limb. My target weight is from 40# to 45#. Is this limb thickness, or lack there of, too thin to accomplish this once all tillering is done? If so then it can be piked down for a kid's bow but I was really hoping to use this piece of wood for Jeff.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
