160 grain snuffers
«

I have some big 160 grain sniffers I'm thinking about hunting with this year. They are like 1 1/2 inches wide. A bit bigger than I have used before. Anybody have experience with these heads? Any penetration issues? Good blood trails imagine

I’ve had pass through on every deer that I shot with them. 53# longbow and cedar arrows, 10-11 grains per pound arrow weight. You’ll be fine

Are you drawing 28"?
Roger Rotthaar shot big deer, he recommended a minimum of 60# for the 160. People have done well with less. Snuffer 160 has been my favorite 3 blade since their introduction, I use 67# for them. I also have a 55# hybrid LB and for that weight I use the 145gr Snuffer.

The reason I said no problem is the 145 is longer than the 125....and the 160 is longer than the 145...so they all have the same angle of attack. But might be best to consider Roger's claim.
Ryan is a member here....he may happen along and ahead some light on your concern.
I shot a buck quartering away with a 125 grainer and 56# curve that blew through it like it was made of paper breaking a rib on the way out....the arrow weighed 570 grains total.

No problem for deer/bear sized game with bows in the 50 lb range and big Snuffers. I shot my last bull elk with 55lb R/D longbow, 550 grain arrow and a big Snuffer..went into the feathers. The last few years before he passed Dad was shooting around 50 lbs give or take a couple and killed a truckload of deer with the big heads.
I wouldn't worry at all, and enjoy the blood trails!

That's good to hear. I have a pack of them that I bought when I was hunting with self bows. I got them online and when I saw how big they were I shied away from them. But now I'm hunting with glass bows so I started looking at em again

Shot a big ohio doe a few years back with my daughters 42# recurve, 2014 shafts, and 160 snuffers. Quartering away. The arrow stopped with the fletching in the lungs and she did about 3 hops and a drop. Blood everywhere. When really sharp they blow through like everything else...…………. For large pigs Id want more horsepower but other than that I would have no doubts with a setup like yours...….

I really wish I would have never sold my one Sixties.... I ground some down to 125 but they still had the length of the 160.... Sold them pretty sure also....

I'm just glad that I bought up a stash of big Snuffers and 160 Magnus 2 blades before they went out, wish I had bought more.

I picked up a few of the big snuffer glue on heads recently and with the inserts weigh in right around 200 grains. Would these work well for me on whitetails out of a 40# Toelke Pika? My total arrow weight would be around would be about 515 grains.

Modad... the thought of using the 160 gr. Snuffer (the only real Snuffer as far as I'm concerned) out of a 40# bow for big game makes me nervous.
You'll probably get a lot of opinions to the contrary but thinking about it still makes me twitch.
