How do you?
« on: March 19, 2019, 10:15:00 AM »
Any good ideas how to place take down limbs for spraying?
I have hung them in a thin steel wire, but they tend to swing back and forth so much.

Hang a weight or tie them off the bottom of limb butt with another light string in a place where it will be hidden in the limb socket..

Could you put a long dummy bolt in and clamp it to a 1x2 or something thats not round and hang that?

Thats pretty much what I do with a one piece, except I use Hog rings inside the nocks to tie onto.

Check out these things, they make it easy to hang and if you dull the points they won't dig into the wood

I like to do one side at a time. I lay in on something more narrow so I can get the sides as well. Then flip and do the same thing. I find I can keep the runs down that way

I hold mine in the middle hit the wedges butts and tips the first couple of coats then hang them for the sides and front and back. Hang them on a stiff wire dont seem to move a lot.

I put a wire hook/hanger through the limb bolt hole and hold the limb by the butt (with glove on) and spray the whole limb all the way to the wedge. Then i hold the hanger and spray the rest. Doesn’t move around much that way. Then hang the whole thing on my rack

Thanks for the advice. I did not exactly follow your advice, but your advice got my few remaining braincells working(after this spraying session they are probably fewer)
This is what I came up with, put some dowels in the limb holes, spray the belly first and then turn over.
I must be the first to admit that my spraying tecnique leaves some to be desired.
