Brownell closing
« on: April 08, 2019, 07:24:53 PM »
Just a heads up - Brownell is closing their doors later this month. If you use their products, time to stock up.
If you have questions on what BCY material is comparable to a Brownell one, I'll try to help. I'm not a BCY dealer for material - just offering advice if possible.

Chad Weaver(LBR) may have info. He's a BYC dealer.

Unfortunately, Chad (LBR) hasn't been active for a couple of months.  I hope everything is alright.  Anyone heard from him?  I miss his posts.
Take care,
Jason

Sad, their site says they were established in 1844.

Might have to get a couple more rolls of fast flight.

Talked with Cindy this morning and its economics . . . ordered some material to keep me for a few months until I get switched over . . .

As with my conversation with Cindy at Brownell yesterday, no one is acquiring their string material portion of the business at that time, so I am presuming at this point BCY will be the main material producer . . .

Michael,

good to see you here!  Hope you're not working too hard!

This is Chad's busy time of the year.  If I remember correctly he has a show or shoot almost every weekend for the next forever as well as the coaching he does for the youth all while maintaining orders and building strings for the NASP shoot.  Glad i'm not him this time of year!

he can be reached at [email protected]

Daniel, been here a long time under Elkhunter, but after switching computers and email addresses several times, had trouble getting on, so it was just easier to re-register under a different name . . . hope I don't have to go through the email address change in a long time . . .

Goobersan, well its a liquidations sale of sorts . . . they will fill orders until they close the doors on the 19th, then only what retailers have in stock will be whats left.

I have worked with both companies over about 25 years and both are good to work with. I worked with Bob at BCY when they came up with 62XS to develope .030 size serving. Worked with Brownell and came up with the colors Cocobolo and Cedar . . .

The hardest thing I will loose from Brownell is Crown .026. In my opinion it was the best serving when using it to double serve (as the outer overlay serving); it was also the slickest material that I have used, great for finger shooters . . .

But life is always about change . . . prayers for Brownells employees . . .

Michael

Sad to see this.  Brownell has always been a staple in the archery world.
