Posting pics from phone
« on: April 19, 2019, 07:27:33 AM »
There seems to be an issue with some people being able to post pictures from their phone..... I'm not sure if it's the phone or the settings on the phone, But I for one have never had problems posting from my phone..... either from my 5 year old note 5 and now my 6 month old note 9.

 Here is what I do......  And we all would like to learn what you do.... So mabey those that can't seem to get  pictures posted Somehow can do so.....

I use to not worry about pic quality with my phone as I always carried a really nice 35 mm camera.... Well I don't carry that cameras much now because phones take really great pictures..... And I'd like to have my settings on high resolution For several reasons....

On my note 5 I would just change the settings if i want to take a picture and post..... Then I learned something else which also works on my  Note 9 which is set on the highest resolution possible.... Which will time out the system from the NETWORK ....not Tradgang.

I simply take the picture then I make a screenshot..... Then I post the screenshot.

Maybe my tip will help to some degree for  A few.... Now let's hear how you do it so we can help more.

Thx!    :thumbsup:

I just use Tapatalk for posting pics from my phone.  It allows me to select multiple pics (up to 9 pics on some forums) from my gallery and it auto resizes them to fit within forum limits on file size. I will admit I've never posted a pic here on Tradgang, but I've posted hundreds of pics on other forums with Tapatalk.
He are some test pics. Took more time to type the text than it took to post the pics.

POSTING IMAGES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There really is no limit on file size currently.
However if you have a huge image file and it takes forever to upload, you will get a error eventually.
Such as using wifi or other slow connections.
Also even though there are no restrictions on size they do take more space on this site.
Even though the forum will re-size the displayed image size to 640PX width.
It does not alter the uploaded file size.
It still will take longer to display on the huge images. And slow down .
So to answer your question.
Size will depend on your connection speed.
That is just the nature of the beast(Internet)
FYI,
You may want to install tapatalk on your phone also.
For all your posting .
technically, there is no maximum image size that's been set for trad gang's forum software.  be aware that really large camera and cellphone images will almost always time out because the traffic on our server is so severe almost 24x7 and bandwith for image/file uploads will always take a back seat to topics and postings.  really large images are great for making into hard copies but are almost useless for computers. if you have a huge image file and it takes forever to upload, you will eventually get an, such as using wifi or other slow connections. it still will take longer to display on the huge images .... and slow down.  this has nothing to do with the trad gang server - it has WAY more horsepower than we need.  it's about internet connections.
"smaller" images are guaranteed to upload fast - as long as there are no network issues in the route from your computer to the trad gang server .... it's the internet, and stuff sometimes just happens!
what is a "smaller" image?  2000 or less pixels in width x length.  the truth is, even those images are WAAAAY too large to be properly viewed on a typical computer screen, let alone a phone or tablet.  there is no need for that, it's a waste of everything.
so it will help to resize really large images.  for my personal use, i size to 1024 wide at the max, but most are 800 wide down to 640 wide at the minimum.
Tapatalk does work great for posting pictures, as it auto sizes them.
I change my phones camera setting to the smallest size file size picture it will take, and they post fine through using the trad gang picture posting process. And they look just as good as a high resolution picture does because a computer screen is only capable of displaying x number of pixels. The high resolution settings are only to benefit printing out a picture.
On my screen the thread looks like this.  I touch reply (little red curved arrow in lower right corner) and I get this.  I touch the little square, select from my gallery and hit the little arrow up top and it's posted.  I can post up to nine pics at a time.  It never times out.
Terry,
It’s been a hit an miss for me. I’ve alway been able to post pic’s on the Old format but of course had to use another repository to store, edit, etc....
With the new format some pic’ Fly right through others not so much. So here lately I’ve use the screenshot technique, which works, but leave me needing to go back and delete duplicates for storage reasons. Not an issue.
Now on videos I thought they would be able to post directly off the computer/phone.
What is the process here?
Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.
 I don't know anything about posting videos direct...... I post my videos to YouTube and then provide a link.....
 Hosting pictures is one thing hosting videos is another..... We will probably never host videos here..... But venues like use such as YouTube As not to jam up our software.
Got it business as usual for videos. And Roy’s explanation above answered most of what I thought was going on with loading pictures (size, internet speeds, etc...).
I have Tap a Talk but like others stated it had been down, but I see it’s up now👍
Well, apparently things are not the same from an iPhone! I can post pics easy and fast using Tapatalk. But it will not let me upload a pic or screenshot directly from my phone on TG. I have also looked in my Camera and Photos settings, and there is nowhere to change the file size that is saved when you take a pic. The only way I can see it working would be to have another app to resize the pics, maybe????
Anyway, as long as Tapatalk is working, everything is fine!
Phone problems aren't Tradgang problems..... See your phone provider for answers to phone problems.
  I thank the guy and his wife every time I see them.... For telling me to stay away from an iPhone if I wanted to conduct real business.....
 I couldn't even imagine trying to run my real business, much less Tradgang on any other phone than an android!!!!
My daughters have even gotten away from iphones..
A member told me about the resizing app yesterday. Good to know when tapa is down.  I have an iPhone because my 2 droids lasted a year,  year and a half and my iPhone 4s is still working after many years. However the iPads at work have been a nightmare with updates and making work orders! Regardless different strokes and applications!  I don’t do anything important on my personal phone.  Thanks for the post!
Samsung Fascinate 5 years....
 Samsung note 5 - 4.5 years.
 How long they doesn't really matter if they are not compatible ....
 I had 3 Motorola's  in 9 months and they suck..... The problem is with the phone manufactures not the android system..... I just wanna make that clear.
 Regardless of your phone or how long it lasts.... the problem is not with Tradgang .... And more people have trouble with iphones and their system than any other phones .... Why I don't know.
My whole point in posting the age of my older phone, the note 5, was to let people know that even the old old old technology still allowed me to post pictures on our new format.
Definitely the apple interface and not a TradGang thing.  That shrinking app works!  Man I’m ready to start calling turkeys next week. Y’all take care.
Funny how those iPhone folks post fine on multiple other foru.s with no issues.  I have an S8 active and still find it way easier to view the forums with Tapatalk.
