I just finished up this Mini Woodlore model in CPM3V this afternoon.  It's handled in some simple, high contrast Arizona desert ironwood over 1/8" ivory paper micarta liners with 1/8" brass pins and a Sally Martin mosaic lanyard tube.  I don't know where I want to go with the tooling for the sheath but I am set on black leather with antiqued brass hardware on the removable dangler loop/removable D-ring.

Thanks. The ironwood block I started out with was really a pretty simple block, but the contouring of the handle just makes the grain come alive as it exposes more and more of the dark layers. This is a photo of the original block I used. On this handle shape I almost feel it comes out better looking with a solid piece of high contrast straight grained wood than a super ornately figured ironwood block.  The high contrast straight grained pieces just come out super bold looking. I love it.

I need to work with Ironwood more often and your work with it is fantastic. So far I've only used Ironwood as a bolster on this knife. But after looking at your knife I think that's gonna change.

That’s a beautiful knife! Ironwood is one of my favorite natural materials. I get almost all of mine from Arizona Ironwood Co, including this piece that I used on my Mini Woodlore. He’s had really good customer service and hasn’t sent me any “surprises” like some of the other vendors have. He shows the flaws and is willing to take extra pictures with a ruler if needed to make sure you can miss the flaws or work around them.

Thanks for the info on the Arizona Ironwood Co. I checked out his website and he does have some really nice stuff. I'm sure I'll be placing an order soon.

I got the sheath done for the Mini Woodlore.  Right handed, black leather, pancake design (looks better with the bask weave tooling), double pointed basketweave tooling, removable dangler with removable D-Ring, drain hole, double row stitching.  The retention is perfect.  You can get the heel of your hand and 2-3 fingers across the belly to remove/insert it with ease.  It's not perfect but I like it pretty well...

WOW!! I can't get over all of the talent I see with all of the knives i see in this forum! Your knives and sheaths are such works of art I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to even use them for what they are intended. Thank you for sharing with us non talented ones Denny

Thanks for the compliments. However I make them to USE. That’s part of why I chose CPM3V for the steel. It’s one of the highest performing steels for this application. Ironwood is naturally one of the TOUGHEST and most dimensionally stable woods available. There’s lots that I could have done to make it more of an art knife but I like to use tools.
