fletching your own arrows - how long before you move gig to next arrow?

Doing my own fletching today for my hunting arrows.  First timer.  How long should I keep the gig on for before changing to next feather?  I heard the longer you keep it on the better it is, is this true?

if you are using fletch tape, it would be about the time it takes to take a breath....  if glue, see what is on the label - stuff i used to use (Beyond Bond) took over 5 minutes.

I would guggest going with Fletch Tape.

I use platinum fletch tite and wait 6 or 7 minutes.

I use fletch tite and I wait 20-25 minutes before removing the clamp and moving to the next feather. This is on cedar arrows. I'm not sure if it would bond more quickly to aluminum or carbon arrows.

I use fletch tape and as soon as I stick the feather I take the clamp off and move to the next!  Works great and doesnt take long to fletch up some arrows!!

I used glue in the past but for the last few years now I use fletch tape. I use the same doz or so arrows for practice and then I have the hunting arrows. They are fletched up the same way and have never had a feather come off or have to be replaced for that matter. Last season I took 3 does and HAD to replace those feathers. None came off with the pass thru's. I still put a drop of glue on both ends of the feather after I fletch it up. A doz arrows now takes about 1/3rd the time to fletch and you can shoot those arrows right after you fletch them. NO WAITING!!!

I'm shooting Carbon Heritage Arrows.  I also have arrow wraps.  Going to use glue, not fletch tape.  Time recommendations?  Advice?  These arrows need to be perfect, my freezer's going to depend on it in the upcoming months!

Fletch tape works great on arrow wraps!

I use Duco cement and it takes some time; but I set up several clamps. Never timed it-between 5 and 10 minutes maybe? There are so many other things to do anyway that the time doesn't matter.

Simple: One hour per arrow.  I'll have over 1/2 dozen done in that time, maybe a dozen.

BobW, that's great... I was just saying if you do use glue wait an adequate time for it to cure, simple! Glad you like your tape, I'll have to give it spin one day.

I use Fletch-Tite Platinum, and wait 15 mins. Of course I have a Jo-Jan 6 arrow fletcher, so it's about 45 mins for 6 arrows.
But I was looking at the tape, to try. Duane

I use Platinum as well, my wait time- about 2 minutes per feather.  Been using it for 2 years, haven't had one come off yet....

When I use duco it abot 5-10 per feather 12 arrows in 45-60 min. I just make sure that after removing them from the jig the arrows don't get laid against anything.

I use Duco on gasket lacquer with wood arrows.  I set a digital kitchen timer for 7 minutes.  The glue is not cured hard enough to shoot in that time but it's plenty set up to move the jig to the next feather if just a little bit of care is taken.

I use goat tuff, no waiting, almost. Really, just a few seconds and your ready to shoot.

I use fletch tite platinum, put the feather on, set the clock on the stove for 10 minutes, when I goes off I change feathers.

With fletch tite platinum on cap wraps, I can move the clamp after 5 minutes.  I keep my shop temp about 65 to 70 degrees. Colder temps don't cure as fast. dino
