You know you have problem when.....

Whenever I go anywhere I am always looking at trees with larceny in mind. I travel with Audubon field guide to North American trees. Sometimes I am rubbernecking so bad I have almost rear ended cars. I'm surprised nobody has called the cops on me as I'm standing in their front yards calculating how much lumber I can get out of their landscaping. I can't help but think I am not the only one

I used to be like you and I have access  to hundreds of acres to hunt trees but over time with all the work and time and drying and debarking milling etc. I got lazy so now all I cut is osage or parts of a tree I could make excuses but the truth is the older I get the more lazy I am to cutting trees

Of course as soon as I posted about not hauling trees out of the woods, I got to thinking about doing just that
Did not want you guys to think I was some kind of wussy boy.
Humped this chunk about 3.5mi out of the mountains. Must have switched shoulders about 50 times. Feeling it today

Those Yew logs are heavy, I have had sore shoulders many times myself and they often grow in remote hard to get to places. Nice catch.

That's impressive sir.  I carried some really heavy live oak, but maybe 1/4 a mile on flat ground.  And I thought that was bad.

Thats some clean Ash Bue. I've got some Oregon Ash I carried a couple of miles.
I think I would have made a good Penitente.

I'm taking orders for straw skirts, if anybody wants one for summer. Not sure how they would look with Pink Chaps

Bue, did you split that Ash or rip it on your bandsaw?

I split it, came apart very easy. I usually cut Ash when the sap goes, then bark comes off very easy and there is a full ring of summer growth from last year. Have a perfect back then. I will take it to smaller sections on the bandsaw.
