Nice sailboat and cool photo.  I'll bet your naps are lots more comfortable than mine in the JEEP.

First was my dad's 1972 (I think) Jeep Commando.  I did a lot of bad things to that ride, and had fun doing it.

Current is a 2006 Chevy Suburban that looks like it has been beat all over with a tire iron.

Maybe I should've asked what brand of boots y'all wear.  Appears lots of guys are fortunate enough to hunt withing walking distance of home.  Must be nice!

when i am on foot i like to wear my muck boots- as they are pretty tall for all the winter creek crossings, they dont give the support of a proper hiking boot, but the model i have seems a lot better than some of the others.
and yes the sail boat is pretty comfy- here on the islands- everyone has a boat- and in fact i know many folk that have boats and dont have a vehicle-so boats are kinda the norm here- many folks have a lot nicer and fancier boats than mine.
great thread- something we dont think about very often.

First for me was a 1985 1/2 Ford escort 4 speed. Mostly hauled small game. My dad would bring his truck for deer.

Learned to drive in the '69 Bronco at age 13, was my first car when I was 16, brought home my first ever deer kill, and later my first archery kill. Me and Dad have been hunting out of this old truck since I was 6 years old. I'll be 32 this year.

One evening in October I was nearly a mile from my truck, and had been dragging a small buck for 3/4 of a mile already through a standing cotton field, it was cold and raining and I was exhausted. Then to my surprise, I fell down and laughed out loud when I saw  two old sealed beam headlights straining through the rain and heard a familiar lopey exhaust note and squeaky rear window creeping towards me. I had told my dad I killed a deer as soon as I found him about an hour earlier, and he knew I would be a long ways from the truck, as I always seemed to be. For whatever reason, he must have thought I would be needing some help. Just seemed right to throw that deer and a longbow with a quiver full of wood arrows in the back of that old warhorse of a truck.

Pops is getting older now, and it's harder for him to get around so things are a little different now on our hunting trips. But come opening day of squirrel season, an hour before daylight, we will both climb in the old Bronco, pull the choke, fire her up and head for our favorite patch of squirrel woods like we have done since I was 6 years old. Only nowadays I'm the one in the driver's seat and picking out the good spots, like he's did for me since I was old enough to hold a bow or gun.

Here's my daily driver and current main hunting rig:

Dang that's a great looking Bronco.  Those were/are some great off road vehicles.  Great paint job too!  Thanks for sharing the stories and I wish you many more years of hunting with your Father.

I helped my father shoot his one and only turkey on his first turkey hunt at age 80.  He turns 90 in September and his turkey fan I made for him still hangs in his bedroom in the assisted living home he's in.  He thinks turkey hunting is a one day event and doesn't understand why it takes me so long to get my bird each year.  He can't walk in the woods these days, but insists I come show him my success stories each and every time I fill a tag.  Love ya Dad.  Thanks for investing so much in me. :notworthy:

That's Pure Water from Pure Michigan - it's the best - just like JEEPs are the best.  Never heard a JEEP hunter say. "Think I'll look into buying me a TOYota'.  NEVER!

It will be a long, cold, snowy day Hawaii before I start listening to you Roy . . .  :scared:
