Got it done in NH this morning. I had 2 birds hammering from the roost. At fly down they started moving away from me. I kept calling sporadically until it sounded like they were coming then kept quiet.
I hadn't heard them for a while so I purred softly and scratched some leaves that I left inside my blind. A bird gobbled so close I could hear his chest vibrating! I caught a glimpse of a huge longbeard but he didn't seem to like the decoys and skirted me. (I believe I called the same bird in on opening day and he did the same thing).
He left and I could hear another bird walking. I got ready and this Jake came running into the decoy. He went right to my Jake and started bumping it.
He paused behind the decoy and stretched his head and neck over it's back. I decided if I shot it would either fold him there or completely miss......it folded him there.
14 yard shot with my brand new PCHX. My Snuffer 160 nearly severed his head. No tracking required. It was a good morning.
