Been to Greencastle twice. Big clean courses.. Lots of targets..including longrange and ariels. Veritable ghost town for shooters.?? If shooting is the only criteria..then go. You can shoot until your arm falls off. No reason they shouldnt get 300-400..but do not.?

Total truth! In speaking with the same lady who takes your money and email address the past few years there, she's "glad" it hasn't gotten bigger as "only so many" of the home club's members help with the event. She said they typically have 100-120 shooters max register for the event. The area down around the lake and Conococheague Creek is amazing too.

"The only thing hurting Greencastle is it's Memorial Day weekend. Families, wives, cookouts, camping trips, etc. But it is a great shoot."

Another bullseye statement!

Cumberland Bowmen will have a group shooting at Baltimore. We go every year it is always a good shoot. The club there does an excellent job putting on this shoot. I hope many show up for this shoot it is well worth it. Safe travels to all. Hope to see you there. Agree with many others Greencastle has an excellent shoot as well. I think there course has over 70 targets with aerials and other novelty shots. If you go to Greencastle you will not be disappointed. (4) days over Memorial Day Weekend.

This will be 3Rivers first time at this show and I'm really excited to attend. I've heard such good things for years about this shoot. For those looking for 3Rivers Archery purchases, I'll have free stuff to hand out at the booth, but nothing for sale there. Call in an order by Wednesday morning and I can bring the order with me. I'll see whomever is going in a few days. Safe travels to all!

Had a little rain this morning, but looks like that is all for the weekend.

Bummer. Nothing so pleasing as hearing rain on the tent and snuggling further into the sleeping bag. Unless it is coffee under the tarp.
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

It'll be nice to have dry paths on the steep parts this year.  And not cold and windy like a few years ago.

Some years ago, at ATAR, I bought a certain bow from Bernie Dunn, the mini-grunt. It was an Adcock ACS that he called “Someone Special”, and he truly treasured her. I know this because I paid an arm and a leg for her.

She is a pretty little wisp of a thing, 58” tall and, conforming to Bernie’s notions of women, lies about her weight. Bernie had made up a set of lightweight carbons for her skinny li’l string, outfitted with some mighty weighty heads, so that she could smack the yell out of a deer.

Two weeks ago I escorted her to the Tennessee Classic, where she embarassed all she met, including me. She outshot many, and gave me a few roll-your-eyes hits just to keep me in my place. But we lost no arrows and all had a good time on the course.

Today I took her into the Fred Bear course, knowing she would like to get some breathing room. Here is her first shot, on the in-and-outs leading to the main course.

Whoops, the pic is on my phone, which is in my chair next to the camp stove and down to 12% power. I will edit it in tomorrow.
(Time passes, I snore...)

It’s tomorrow.

I shot the Howard Hill course today, first light. As I was the only one there, it was a lovely walk in the woods with time to poke into nooks and crannies along the way. The course was set up beautifully, with many lifelike tableaus. It all looked very natural, from the buck waiting on a feeding doe, to the moose menaced by wolves, to the two bedded bucks, one having spotted me, was standing with tail up.

Great job, Baltimore!
We had a ball!!

Killy, as always, your pictures and stories are much enjoyed.  It was good to get to chat with you even tough briefly.  It was an excellent shoot and my hat is off to the great people who worked so hard to put this event on for the rest of us to enjoy.  I tried to express my appreciation to as many as I could because it is no small undertaking to do a shoot of that size.  :notworthy:
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

I had a “Great” time spending the day with a Pastor friend Otis Seese and other friend.Made sure they were well fed with my top secret sausage gravy and even had a few stray cats pay us a visit for a couple BIG dips on their biscuits.
One of my favorite things to do is Try and do my best to “serve” others and seeing joy on their faces with all the things going wrong in today’s world BUT spending time helping others with setting up their bows and getting their kids out in the creation our Father created is what matters most. Those kids had a ball and love watching as Jerry D throws little gifts out to them and t.he smile that everyone gets as they catch a T shirt or win a 3 d target .
Thanks Baltimore Bowman for a job well done to all who make it possible.
I know it had a few drops of rain a night or so but pretty dry this time and Sun was out.
