Riser length vs Draw weight ?
« on: June 01, 2019, 09:09:49 AM »
Im working on a design this morning playing with riser length do any of you guys know does shortening a riser say by 1" have the same effect on draw weight as lengthing the limb 1" ?

From my experience, they are close. But changing the limb length has a slightly greater effect than changing the riser length.

You will have the same amount of working limb either way, but will have greater leverage with the longer limb.

My thoughts too

Assuming the length of the bow remains the same and the riser is shortened, I don't see how you would not end up with more working limb?

Thanks guys Ben I relies its a longer limb I was wondering about draw weight differential given working percentages of the fades vs outers Im actually shortening the over all length but decreasing riser length to avoid stack at least thats my guess ! In my OP I mentioned increasing limb length vs shortening riser same diferense as far as length just diferent areas !

"shortening a riser say by 1" have the same effect on draw weight as lengthing the limb 1" ?"

I have only done an inch on each end but changing from a 60 to a 58 is about 6# and changing riser 2" is about 2#

So the leverage of longer limb has something to do with it but we need an engineer....

Lol sorry Bro ,I'm making a 58" FHLB ,in Kenny's FDC at 58" it was just starting to stack at 31" so I'm decreasing the riser to 13"  I was thinking 12" but  no room for the sight window ,at 13" it will be shorter but serviceable !
