Rain gear reccomandations

looking for some good quality raingear for an upcoming hunt, Any recommendations?

Richard, different folks will give you different answers.  I don't think any one brand is the very best for all situations.  I like Rivers West.  It is exceptionally quiet like fleece.  If it really gets wet, it weighs a ton.  That is fine if you have a warm place to dry it out overnight.  Lot of folks will say Helly Hansen.  It is 100% waterproof for sure but I sweat like a pig while wearing it and with any exertion.  Some folks say Cabela's Space Rain is great.  It is exceptionally lightweight and packable.  For me, it is great if you are in a tree all day.  It is not too durable and thick underbrush will shread it.  My very favorite overall rain gear is First Lite Stormfront.  It is lightweight and packable.  If you need to dry it, just shake it out.  Kuiu is probably quite similar but I have never tried theirs.  First Lite and Kuiu are not inexpensive.  Again, this is just MY opinion.  This can always become a Ford vs Chevy topic.

My First Lite is NOT perfect for hunts anywhere and everywhere.  It is a tad noisy but is tough, lightweight and very packable.

Look no further than Swazi from NZ. They know their wet weather over there and their wet weather gear is second to none.

I have a fleece rainsuit from Cabela's.  Had it for years and it does a good job.

If it's raining hard I wont hunt since it washes away blood trails fast. For our lighter rains in Florida when it's 85-90 during archery season I just let rain on me and cool me down. Once the weather cools some I'll wear any (darker colored) light rain jacket till it quits then take it off once it stops.

To me the one requirement that's hard to find in good rain gear for bowhunting is quiet. How are all the ones listed when it comes to noise? If its not a heavy rain I often just wear wool. Stays warm when wet and silent. Of course it gets heavy and you still get wet.

Kuiu is not totally quiet when dry, but after a bit of rain it is. Also NO inner condensation, totally comfortable. Never had anything as good.

If your hunting the over bait season late August to late September, I would use a treestand umbrella, and a lightweight rain suit (Cabelas Space Rain ) for the walk in and out. Maine is brushy and can be rainy or hot and humid or both. Don't forget the headnet and thermacell or the blackflies/mosquitos will eat you alive.
