I picked up an Amarco (66", 46#, 9C217) bow and a nice leather back quiver and a few arrows offa CL, for a reasonable amount. I saw right away when I went to look at it that it had a repair on the shelf, but I figured, hey, the price is right. It's not so bad... After I got it home, I wiggled the repair loose, and took off the flipper rest that the previous owner had screwed on. I found a big cavity.
I think I'll fill the cavity with epoxy, patch the other screw holes, and cover with a large strike plate, but what to do about that corner? I think if I could get the unknown adhesive off both sides, I'd stand a chance at getting a better repair than the first one. Any suggestions for adhesive removal without damaging anything? What would be gentle enough not to hurt wood or glass? And, does anybody know how to age the bow? Is it a '59 because of the 9 prefix? Thanks for any help!
