Smokey’s deer lure

I want to give the licking rope a try this year. What do I need when to start it. I’m a newbie please help me out

The two-part piece is listed under "Wicked Wicks" of the BOTB site. Plus there's about a thousand trail camera pictures proving how well it works. BW
