Question on converting Samick limbs
« on: July 10, 2019, 03:22:49 PM »
So I think I have a game plan on what I want to do in order to get started building bows. I would like to find good maple wood and craft my own take-down riser and simply marry that to Samick limbs that I will have. However, I want to ditch the aluminum tray that Samick uses for alignment and either drill another bolt hole or add an alignment pin. Does the BB braintrust foresee any issues with my plan of attack? If you were to pick between a second limb bolt or an alignment pin, which would you choose?

I apologize if this is a completely absurd question.

I did exactly as you said but found it very difficult to get everything perfectly aligned when drilling through the limb and into the riser. I ended up making my own limb pocket from aluminium bracelet but it’s less intrusive than the sage ones. Be very careful if you do drill the limbs as I made a tiny crack in the glass pulling the drill bit out.

Was super noisy too, possibly because I seated the pin in a brass bushing on the limb.

Good luck and please report back!
