Awesome hogs! We don’t have any here yet, but they’re getting closer.
Is a rank hog just bad smelling or does it affect the meat? Would it be edible still?
Dave.

You don't want to smell live or dead.... You don't want to smell it while your skinning it.... You don't want to smell it while you're cooking it.... By then you surely won't want to eat it.

Never underestimate the danger of hunting hogs. You should see the bruises on my ankles.

T... I was probably in the pool. I'm available now.

Yeah, I had a plan when  I shot the little guy. He was running with some big boars and I wrongly thought I'd shoot him and he'd die quietly. Then I'd shoot one of the big ones. He made the dangdess racket you ever heard and the big ones never came back.
So much for plans.

He was a tasty little beggar though.

At 65 and I don't have a tractor to haul one out of the swamps. a 100 lb porky. would make me happy.

Loving this thread though. AND making me hungry too.

This is CHUNK.......believe it or not, this is the 3rd hog I shot while charging....

Was hunting with Curt and Cade Cabrera and this hog swapped ends on the shot and the arrow hit during the spin and the Wensel Woodsman passed though both hips....

Got the femoral and a 30 yard horrendous blood trail....

64#@28 Thunderstick MOAB......585 Grain arrow running about 188....
