I just had to share this with folks who would “get it.”
Ever since my dad died last October, my eight year old son has had no interest in archery. Shooting bows together was one of their favorite things, so I feel like that explains his loss in interest. Without being pushy, I’ve asked him on several occasions to join me when I go out to practice. For months he’s said no or “I don’t like to shoot bows any more.”
For whatever reason, tonight was different and he was excited to come home and shoot with me. I set up the deer target and we flung about 20 arrows at it. That poor deer got shot in the neck, butt, and everywhere in between, but man did we have fun! As soon as he said he thought he was done, we headed back to the house so he would be hungry for more. On the way back in he was already talking about practicing tomorrow night. I told him if he’d stick with it, we would buy him a better bow...hopefully I’ll be asking for youth bow suggestions soon!
I wouldn’t be happier or more proud if I’d shot a Booner.
