1.5 thin metal for form/jig

For a rubber band form/jig

1-are you gluing the bottom metal to the jig?
2-are you using a top metal strip also?

do you even use any metal strips?

can one seal the form with epoxy or super glue and sand smooth, and use no strip?
as there's tape on the bottom glass piece that contacts the form,

im confused

I need a vid to watch on how to do this right,

I seal my form with shellac, several coats and sand with a short block.
I use high heat masking tape on both pieces of fiber glass to keep the epoxy off.
I use a pressure strip on top before the air hose or rubber bands. Big Jim has them

On this form I used a 1 1/2" clear glass as backing for the top of the form & I use a 1 1/2" .030 metal pressure strip I put the form strip on with contact cement , I use keln dried maple for my forms and have never used a finish on the form !

 I have started using cork shelf liner glued to form face and then laying a strip of metal over that. I leave my metal loose, and just tape down in non-critical area of the bow. Have been getting really smooth finish using this method, as the cork fills in any imperfections of the form under the metal.

I have a strip of Formica (cabinet laminate) along the top of mine. Seems to work good. I also wax the heck out of it before I do a glue up.
