ID Bear Kodiak
« on: October 12, 2019, 07:31:57 PM »
This is a 60", 50# bow, the handle looks to be rosewood. From the acc's with it looks to be, I am guessing late 60's, early 70's. Serial # 1AK175. There is a 5-point star stamped under or over the serial #, but under the finish. Any help will be appreciated. Sorry, I can not do pictures

Probably a 1961 because a lot were stamped but could also be a 1962

That serial number could be almost any year 1955 to 1964. We'd need a photo or two to ID the year..

I've adopted too many bows that needed a good home.

From the info that you gave. Its 60" if its "Bark Gray"  ,if its a Pewter coin, tip is white-Gray-white . The number and letter is common to a Bear 1962 Kodiak. It was made on the same press as the 1961,but I think yours is a 1962.A 1961 is green and only has one Letter in the I.D.
The 1963 Kodiak is the "dog" style with a normal I.D. of 17BG127.But is also Bark Gray.
        Good Luck :archer:

I've read that the star meant that they were pushing last years models out the door at bargain price to get rid of them. So they stampped a star across the serial number. I don't know why they did that; maybe if there was a warranty issue they would know that the buyer didn't pay full price?
