I have been blessed to have hosted countless Trad Gang members over the years in a number of different camps. Hunts for bear, deer, hogs, alligator, turkey and other animals. The greatest thing about these hunts is the many friendships that have come my way as a result. I couldn’t possibly chronicle each one but a recent one has a little story that’s sure worth telling. Many of you know Michael T on here that goes by the Trad Gang handle Brushwolf. A couple years back Brushwolf and his wife Janice came up to hunt in our Canada bear camp. We sure hit it off and they returned again in 2018 and 2019 and helped out in camp while hunting. Well that first year I was admiring the bow that he shot a beautiful P&Y bear with. He is so humble that I didn’t even know he made bows.
This thing was not only one of the most beautiful bow I had ever seen but when I shot it I felt like I had been shooting it for years. It was amazing.
Fast forward to bear camp 2019 and Mike and Janice arrive in camp. Mike walks up and hands me one of these gorgeous bows- as a gift! I was overwhelmed with the gesture and promised to break it in on hogs as soon as I got home.
After returning to Georgia, we were met with extremely hot weather. Temps were consistently pushing 100 degrees. We normally don’t conduct hog hunts this late in the summer but my hog leases were on fire so we decided to go to work on those piggy’s with this new bow and my friend Al was pursuing a quest to take a hog with a self bow driving a homemade river and arrow and self knapped stone point.
Dang did we fling some arrows. In just a few days we shot a pile of hogs and sweated more than you can imagine. I intend to produce a video soon of the hunts but wanted to take a moment to thank Mike for this beautiful bow that shoots like a dream. The friendship that I have built here are cherished and I look forward to building more of them over the years.
