when is the first day of the season ? I see birds almost daily and they sure seem to be breeding now. I see some great tom's walking with full fan's out. What special BH do you have to use ? do you always have to hunt from a popup blind ????

May first is the opener, any broadhead that will kill a deer will work on turkeys keep them sharp. Many people hunt without blinds but a blind will make it easier to be successful IMHO but they are not a necessity.

I am having surgery but it was postponed. I do not do MRI's. I am skeered, so Workers comp delayed it. They now have to drug me to give me the MRI. The surgery won't be for at least 6 weeks.  I am sorry but I never have gotten real exited about turkey hunting but I am gonna give it an honest go this year. That is if Cindy does not kill me. I found a FF Schafer T/D that I had to have, even if just to look at!! Charcoal dymondwood with stripe, checkered grip, bamboo core, birdseye maple veneers and antler knobs!! 58"s and 50#@27"s. OH MY!!! Shawn

Yeah, I just got a PM from Larry(LAR43) and he and Gregg are gonna be coming up for a weekend in May for a two day hunt. We will have 2 DBs and a place that holds over 100 birds. We should no doubt be into some birds and after the morning hunt, off to breakfast and than striper fishing on the Hudson!! Maybe by than I will be tired of the Schafer and Larry can buy it!  :bigsmyl:  Shawn

P.S. Maybe we will get Lucky and Curt can get time off that weekend! I know he is prone to colds about that time of year!  :biglaugh:

Shawn gave me a great idea with his last post. Anyone wanna come and do a little turkey hunting in my "secret spot"? Already trying to plan something with ishiwannabe, but I met a lot of great folks at the bunny hunt that I wouldn't mind setting up on a bird...

No way you're going to miss this year Izzy. After seeing you shoot, and hearing how much you wanted a bird this year, down at Lemmes...well, I'll just be hanging around the computer until your trophy photos get posted this May...

I've got the first 2 days off from work, so I have 4 days straight to hunt.

Can't wait to start getting up at 3AM again....

I'm taking the first two days off myself. Then I like to hunt the last part of the season, when the adults are more vulnerable and the crowds have faded to almost no one.

Sunday will be good, I am not ahving much luck as of late. I believe I have lyme again. I have a nice bulls-eye on my groin. I never felt this guy but man I have felt lousy the last two weeks. Gonna see doctor tomorrow. Birds beware and I am gonna have to keep this bow as Cindy caught me and now I am done!! No more bows can appear or dissapear. I should have it by Tues. Shawn

Bulls eye where? Ouch...hope ya feel better soon seeing as the fish are appearing.
I listen to the gobbles every night. Nine has been the highest count so far. Sometimes the gobbles get drowned out by the yotes serenade though...
I really should dig out my calls and dekes...

Starting to get ready! Been seeing the birds, but some are still flocked up. Won't be long.
