Why?
« on: November 25, 2019, 09:17:12 AM »
I am curious to know why so many threads dealing with equipment specifications appear in the FORM section of TG. They don't seem to be pertinent to archery shooting form, unless there are factors that I don't realize. To me they belong on Pow Wow, or perhaps a separate board just for this type item. So far, I just think specification items are out of place in FORM.

In my case, FOC Question, I thought it was The Shooters FORUM board. Just made sense to me to put it here. Didn't realize until a few responses that it was FORM.

TooMany, I wasn't referring specifically to your post. I have long thought that equipment specs and form are not related, except in those case where somebody is so overbowed that they can't exercise proper form. I think questions on specs should have a separate forum. That would make discussions of this type easier to locate when researching equipment issues. This not a serious complaint by any means, but I think it would be useful.

Agree with you, Sam. Equipment is a separate issue from form and should have it's own section.

A forum has to receive a certain number of visits to be viable and healthy.  If grouping things together that are somewhat related, but aren't exactly the same, increases views, then the possibility exists that someone who tunes in to read one topic might become interested in another topic.  There are many forums on TradGang that are rarely visited by anyone, forums like PowWow that are visited by almost everyone, and forums like the Shooter's Form forum that could use a few more visits to be viable and healthy.

The problem with combining too many things together is that it makes it difficult to find things that relate to a topic you are interested in.  It has never been my experience that having tuning topics, like FOC, in the form forum make it difficult to find posts that are more specifically related to form issues.

I have read and participated in tuning topics on the Form forum because tuning does involve form issues, maybe not all the time, but a form problem is always an underlying possibility when tuning is not turning out the way one expects.

I have often referred posts that specifically relate to equipment to PowWow, but have responded and will continue to respond to any post that may have tangential form related elements.

Too many people posting in the wrong forums that we can't keep up.... That's basically the answer.

With nearly 50,000 members and over 100 forums there's no possible way for us to sit and monitor every post.
