2019 season finished with a filled freezer
« on: November 30, 2019, 03:50:24 PM »
This morning I filled my second deer tag.  I shot a doe about 4 weeks ago and had been holding out for a buck.  I had passed some young bucks but today couldn't hold back any longer...  I had several does and 3 small bucks running all around me this morning.  At 10am most had moved through the woods to the standing corn but one young doe with a young buck that wouldn't leave her side decided to bed down 20 yards behind my stand.

The young buck would stand up and grunt at her several times over the next two hours.  She would get up move away from him and bed down again.  Around noon the two were about 80 yards south of me and then it happened.  She jumped up and trotted right past me.  The buck was in tow.  He locked up 10 yards in front of me.  I drew back to a solid anchor and released.  The buck spun with my feathers buried into the top of his shoulder.  My arrow broke of was dropped 5 yards from the shot.

I had seen him go down but decided to follow the blood trail.  An easy one to follow.

It's a 60" Thunderhorn Heartstopper.  It's a really great bow that shoots as good as it looks.

Congratulations. What broadhead did you use? That was one heck of a blood trail.
