I use ProCell and have never had an issue. They last forever, even up here when it gets really cold.

When I evaluate total cost of use/ownership, the Energizer Ultimate Lithiums last FAR Longer than any other. Infinitely longer when cold weather is present. I live quite a jaunt from my cameras and I prefer to not check them frequently so I reduce impact on the natural wildlife movements. One extra trip down to check on batteries more than pays for any differences in battery costs or choices. Plus I'm much less likely to arrive with great anticipation and realize the batteries have been dead for awhile...

I'm thinking a good battery in a cheap camera is just as bad as a cheap battery in a good camera. Am I wrong? For you guys that get long battery life in cold weather, which camera/battery combo are you using?

I'm quite certain the Energizer Ultimate Lithiums significantly increase the length of operation & number of pictures you can expect to take no matter the camera all things considered, especially cold weather. That being said, I have (2) Primos IR Truth Cameras that take 8AA, and (4) Browning StrikeForce HD Elite IR Cameras that take 6AA. I obtained each of these cameras for less than $110. The Browning StrikeForce HD cameras are a great camera and are better than the Primos.... I put my cameras on 5 Shot Burst with only 5 Second delay between retriggers so I get lots of pics..... :o

My recommendation is to buy good batteries in bulk.  I only check my cameras 3 times a year and change the batteries on the 3rd time, so eoughly once every 9 months, and they could probably go longer. Unless you are running many cameras I don't really think there are much savings to be had.

Amazon Basics is what I use. They seem to last almost as long as any of the name brands, and cost a whole lot less.

100 batteries for $23.99!!!!

Like anything else, sometimes the cheapest battery you can find ends up to be the most expensive---i.e. doesn't last, doesn't trigger the infared...

I went he rechargeable route, but found that the ones I had had wouldn't trigger the infared even when they were at full charge.  Good batteries are money well spent and will save you lots of frustration.
