I’m headed out to the back corner of our place in a bit. Not figuring on seeing anything...(reverse psychology ) LOL

That reverse psychology stuff has never worked for me. The deer always seem to figure it out!

Headed out Friday for a weekend in the Bush with my hunting partner. Last year the spot was great. We shall see.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.

I tried hunting the stand behind the house ( it's about 300 yards back) and saw nothin. Just found out the nephew down the road has been running his rabbit hound back there. No deer for me.

I love how trails start showing up after most of the leaves have fallen. This trail led to blind placement and a nice doe. Seen 6 on Christmas Eve.

I is...I is...I is still after them.

Have been working with a gentleman in shooting a traditional bow. He is now hunt ready. Planning to guide him
on his first traditional bow hunt Monday afternoon. Am certainly hopeful he has a shot opportunity.

Windy this morn so went in the thick stuff . Had a big doe and her fawn drift by at 35 yds, too far for me.

Later another unidentified deer came in and finally cleared the big cedar tree west of me at 15 yards  , looked my way and I saw it wasn't a button, so started the draw when it looked away. Halfway to anchor she turned and walked straight away! LOL

So I sat awhile, ate a snack and drank the coffee I packed in , then dragged out my predator call and squeaked around on it for 20 minutes. About 10 minutes in a squirrel got all bent out of shape about 40 yards out. Nothing ever came of it so I packed it in …

Nice morning to be alive and in the woods!!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

I have a group hunting at Kenny’s.  This morning my son saw 12 does.  Mike saw a nice buck and 4 does.  Aaron is not back yet but text that he had two bucks chasing a doe.  One was grunting.  I saw none.  LOL.   Chad

Good luck guys. We have only 2 days left. I hope to hunt both days. I have one buck tag left, and won’t be too picky.

I was out Saturday for an all day sit in my Saddle, as a last hurrah for me for 2019.  season ends tomorrow but its raining/freezing rain/snow today & tomorrow.

I got a fourth arrow camera arm on friday from the saddlehunter dot com classifieds and Saturday was my first attempt at self filming with my DSLR. in Mass you can hunt till 1/2 hour after sunset, but I realized up in the saddle that my headlamp batteries had died.....so, filming squirrels & a pileated woodpecker was fun, but I started packing it up the camera about 15 min before end of legal shooting, and spooked a deer I hadn't seen...it took off like a bat outta hell.  the right at last light, had the same 3 (doe & 2 fawns) come out to feed in the field 80 yards away.  Lil' too far for my recurve.  lol

I'm still going to edit the footage as a 'keepsake of my first video hunt'.

I'm done for the year but I did get a set in last week and saw this guy.
He knew I didn't have another tag so he just came by to stick his tongue out at me.

Had a doe and fawn come in five minutes too late Sunday afternoon. Legal ends at sunset, they kept me hunkered down until 5pm, before finally getting down wind and busting out.
Tomorrow is last day, last chance. I'll hunt the afternoon as I always do on last day. I'll watch the sun set on another season, and start scouting and preparing for next season and planning for spring turkeys. Good luck to all that are still at it.

2 does came by my blind this evening. Both winded me, so I left as soon as they went out of sight. There are a couple young bucks using the same trail and I didn’t want to spook them. Tomorrow is our last day of the season. One more try!

I haven't been putting a lot of time in, but there are still a couple weeks of deer season. This year has been special as I have gotten pictures of the biggest deer I've ever seen on any of the places I  hunt. They are hopelessly nocturnal. Like Ol Debo here.
