do over ???
« on: December 27, 2019, 08:14:53 PM »
Well its been awhile since I have built a bow , but it seems I have not forgot how to screw up ( one of my better god given abilities ). While routing out the top part of the form I had a opps and put a divot in it, It is almost a 1/16 deep.
Its a Kenny M fhlb design and has the bow back facing up , so I was wondering if I should redo template and form or since its the top half of form with airhose and galvanized strip if it would be ok??

Thanks for any help

Put some tape on the side and mix up some smooth on and fill in the valleys, and file it back to smooth.

Use Bondo and sand it out with a thin flexible board about a foot long covered with sand paper.

I have used epoxy putty the kind you knead together ,pressed it in  & sanded and face the form with .040 glass before

I have used bondo on all my forms. As Ritchie said, sand it smooth then glue on your laminate/glass or whatever bed you are going to use.

It being the top half of form, does it need something ( laminate) ?? I thought only the bottom needed a laminate on it and the top didnt because of the air hose. Or does the top need it because of my screw up?

Thanks again

It will work like it is but I'd bondo it just for peace of mind.  The air hose should take  care of that.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Use Bondo and sand it out with a thin flexible board about a foot long covered with sand paper.

That's what I do too.  Have also used plain wood filler if it's going to have a cover over it.

I divot every form every time!  :)  If you are careful you won't have a flat spot.  :)
