I've done a few cane handle wraps but I don't remember where I got the cane. It is used for chair caning so you could Google that. I've used 1/4" wide stuff and it looks good but the 1/8" looks best to me. The trouble with using 1/8" is you need a 15' long piece or more to wrap a 4" handle. I never figured a good splicing method that was acceptable or comfortable.

I like split cane handle wrap its my go to wrap for timber bows your right the 1/8 is easier to work with on any handle that has any countour to it ,I soak mine in water before using and use some leather dye for contrast makes a durable handle wrap !

Do you use glue to fasten it?

Bue I do it like a string serving but you have to put a 90 deg bend on the end of the tail where you start sence the cane is stiffer then string and at the end of the wrap I pull it threw and put a dab of real thin CA glue I have never had any unwrap & give it a light sanding before the leather dye kida gives it the old school
look !!

I do like Richie but remember to wrap the direction your fingers go around the handle or just grabbing the handle can loosen the wrap.

Also the 1/8" stuff wraps nice around a bulbous handle vs the 1/4 " you can also put little drops of thin CA between the wraps to hold in place I have had that bow with that wrap drug threw beat up dense woods for 3 seasons with out issue its a tuff material !

I agree, looks cool/trad. So does the cane need to be sealed? Seems it would soak up moisture.

Flem I never sealed it other then Johnson floor wax , now that I discovered ceramic wax ,Im going to use it on the current wrap ,I never had a issue with it that bow has been in some ruff inviorments with no problems !

Try Franks cane and rush supply. Woodcraft may have it also.
