Looks like after the bow was cut in two a slot was machined on both ends of the riser. Then glued in I guess.

Never seen one like that. Found an old catalog online and they claimed that takedown handle is stronger than a one piece. If you guys have not seen this website of old catalogs, check it out. Lots of history there.

Mike when it's put together is there any side to side play sorry for all the questions trying to see how tight the tolerances are thinking I could mill some brackets similar ,I would bet it's stronger then a normal riser I would guess it's 6061T6 aliminum very comonaly used in those years they really put some thought into that design thanks for sharing it !

It seems to have a bit of taper on the joints where the slide together. And the screw has a slight taper also. so no slop.

Anybody care for some Green maple.

I can't tell for sure on my phone if it's lam material or riser material.  Guessing riser if you are stabilizing it.

That stabilizing your riser wood must work.

Stickypop said his 3 inch riser grew to 3.5 inches.

You go big boy:)

I love the green on that maple. It really adds to it’s natural beauty!
What are your plans for this block? Combine it with natural wood colors or more green?
