Hey guys,  surgery went well. I am doing quite a bit better than I thought I’d be. No tears were found. They cleaned up bone spurs and found a spur that had broke off and was floating around the joint. They did relieve my AC joint to make more room for my nerve that goes under it. Looks like I’m 6-8 weeks in PT and about 3-6 months until I’m back to 100%. Gotta find me a nice 20-30# bow for Compton in June. Then comes getting ready for GLLI in august and deer season and the hope bow in October. Got a bow project sitting in the corner that I gotta decide on a riser for.

Cody.

No tears, thats really good news! Enjoy your PT, Ha Ha. Seriously, stretch out the PT as long as you can, it sucks, but it will pay you back for the rest of your life. Hope this is the start of a turn around for you and yours.

I have dropped a riser on the floor too, with the same result as yours. Made me real angry with myself for being careless. Looking forward to your build.

I get the allure of expensive, exotic woods from far away places. It's like a shiny nickel at the bottom of a fountain. But that Walnut has been the object of a life time of custodianship. Thats invaluable.
I might be a little biased ;)

Maybe CA glue that piece back on the riser.

I don't think it would work.   It wasn't feathered out yet and probably would go south.

I am making two of these but got a nice piece of Zebra from Kenny that will be fun to play with.

If this form doesn't toss me a good bow, I have two other forms standing by.  :)

You guys made such sense on the super glue suggestion that I had to give it a try.   Glued it together and it's going to cure overnight. I'll give it a go on the rigid and see what happens.

Looks pretty good.

I think you are right on.  If it can survive the feathering it should be solid.

Mike, do you use a program for your riser template pattern?

I just happen to know that CA glue trick can work.  :bigsmyl:

Actually worked on the victim bow. Got the limbs and riser drilled inserts in and out of pins. Fastenal was closed.
So I done this.

Yes, I use a program called Cad Std.  When I got it it it was a free version and there was also an upgrade version.  The free one was completely adequate but eventually I got the upgrade solely to be able to do offsets.   Which I I rarely use but it can be handy.

Sometimes I wish I had a 8 inch wide beltsander, but since I do not I use this, works very well. I like to have one side of a recurve limb dead straight before running it through a machine so the width is parallel before drilling. I cut a 8 inch wide belt and stretch it out on my dead straight work bench.
If your finished width taper is straight from the fades, using this thing when you are nearly there will give you a slight trapping to the back.

Bue that looks like a lot of elbow grease.

Cut in the sight window and limb profile and got it in two. .002 taper bottom to top front to back and .008 bottom to top on the sides made it come apart really easy.
