Remember, PT (pain & torture) ain't doing any good unless it hurts!
The weather warmed up and let me get a few things done today. Made up some blockers for the sides of this kid bow form. And glued some lay up blockers on the ends. This will make a 54" blank but pretty sure it's going to make a bow closer to 50".
This is a 1" form and using a topless hose form might not work out due to the hose width so it's going to be a rubber band form. Instead of using a single pressure strip, it's going to be two thin ones back to back. The idea being that they will be flexible and a bit stouter than a thicker single. Still need a strip down the center to prevent cupping.
Double checked the fit of the little bocote riser its good. Just need to feather the fades. But that won't be happening cause I dropped it! :(
Now, I know walnut don't get no respect as a riser wood but it should be able to handle this little bow. Got a start on it but the sun was going down. More to come, of course.
The walnut has been in my wife's family for 65 years. It was cut into rough boards in Omaha and my wife being a military brat, the wood travelled the world. It has lived in Paris, Arizona, Sacramento, Arlington and now here in Colorado. It oughta be dry by now.
