Just cooked this little pink bow. Pulling the tape was a little nerve wracking. When the lay up was finished, there lay one of the pressure strips.
so, cut that end loose and put the strip in and wrapped it up again! Luckily all was well except for a little bit of squiggle at mid limb. I was a little nervous about using the topless hose on such a narrow layup so it was done with rubber bands.
I used Jess Stuart's split lam method to get 1" cores. Glass is 1.5" Bear Paw cut to one inch wide. Got most of the boogers off so now to figure a limb profile.
Maple core, pink lams and bocote riser from a piece found on the floor.
btw, this is the riser that i posted recently that was dropped on the floor and chipped. You all suggested super glue and it worked. Survived the feathering process nicely.
Here's a little experiment with this layup. The veneers are so thin that scarf joints didn't work. So i put a patch across it made of onion skin paper .002 thick and super glued it. I could've turned it to the inside but wanted to see what it looks like. Overlay should hide it.
