I made an all Bamboo Perry reflex once. One was enough.

Wonder if there would be any advantage to employing the concept in a glass bow.

I looked at this some for my first FG bow. I don't think there is any point on a recurve because the limbs are so thin that you can't generate any significant preload on the core, but it could reduce set on a Hill style longbow where the stack is fairly thick and they are known to take some set. One project at a time...

 :biglaugh:

Why was one enough? Didn't work out or just too much work? I would think anyone who will go to the trouble of making fibreglass lam bows wouldn't find the basic Perry reflex construction much trouble.

Was tested for Rona and Strep today.  Sanding on bows on hold.  Son Noah has Rona.  I’m quarantined.

since I was wide awake at 430 this morning, I pounded my initial pot of coffee and hit the shop. something about those quiet early morning hours a guy can get some work done without any interruptions, aside from refilling the coffee cup.  Took a bow out of the form, got it all cleaned up, retaped, layout, and then tapered limbs and ran across edge sander to finish roughing it out. made up tip and handle overlays, and glued those on. Readyt to cut string grooves and tiller tomorrow. sweet lookin bow, zebrawood riser with a walnut I beam, figured eucalyptus veneers with rosewood overlays. everythign went really smooth with it so far. Will start shaping everything tomorrow. No sideways pics today. Phone was busy with playin a podcast while I worked.  After I got all that done this morning, went and checked traps, my friends grandson got his first pine marten catch today so that was exciting. My fisher sets were untouched.
...stood alone on a montaintop, starin out at a great divide, I could go east, I could go West, it was all up to me to decide, just then I saw a young hawk flyin and my soul began to rise......

On Thursday evenings a few guys are getting together doing som blacksmithing. We are not professionals, but enjoying ourselfs. These are some laminated blades I made. The top shiny one will be tempered and annealed tonite. The others are ready for fine sanding and sharpening.

Very nice, Bue. Would you happen to have a buffing wheel setup?

That would polish them to a chrome looking finish.

Would make them shape as a razor also.

I always sharpen my knives on a buffing wheel.

Yes Roy, I’m buffing along. The thing with laminated blades is that you do not see how well your forge welding is done before the blades are almost finished.

my work shop...   started wed...  finished sun 8:30 pm with a head lamp on...  10 to 12 hours a day... if you are not familiar with torch down those rolls are close to a hundred lbs.    silver dollar sized holes wore  in my knees by the second day even though i wore knee pads... i guess the jeans between the pads was too much friction...  dreaded crawling on my knees the next three days...  :(   knock wood i am now hurricane proof...

have not busted ass like this in a long time...  finally feeling normal today...

Brutal! I'm not familiar with that type of roofing. Is that the finished roof in the 3rd pic?
