Not great test reports
« on: January 13, 2020, 07:03:26 PM »
I've been rather silent for some time...

By way of catch up/ refresher:

Diagnosed in fall of 2018 with prostate cancer...told whatever I'd do would get me 15 years...

So not wanting to deal with surgery living alone, I opted for radiation.

I had 39 treatments from January to mid March... PSA was down at 30 days after end of treatments, then at 3 months it had climbed a bit to 3.72, then at 6 mos it hit 9.7!!!  Whoa!

I asked for the last january scans to be redone to see whats up... got a PET done on DEC 11th but never heard a word... then had a bone scan done Jan 6th and today, I called and raised some dust and got a call mid day telling me both saw cancer in the spine at T-3!!

Not what I wanted to hear...

But then I am to see the URO doc on Friday AM, but so far the URO doc and Radiation/oncologist have been totally wrong so I'm not filled with a lot of optimism, but, God is in charge and will remain so..

Thanks for the latest encouragement...

As of Friday, I met with the Urologist... this past Monday I called his office and left message as is the Norm with his nursing staff, that given my PET scan was Dec 11th I was seriously ticked not to have any results in over 33 days and that the bone scan promised results too by the week prior...Nada...

Got a call back that same day from a male nurse who told me that the cancer had 'spread' to T-3 in my spine... ok...that controls lungs and chest muscles... I was told that my Friday Appt (17th) I'd learn more...

Sure did...

I learned the mass is not in T-3 but in T-7 not above shoulder blades but below...

I was told to start taking 2 magic pills and the Doc's expectation is the PSA will start to DROP...then hit zero down the road...(yea, right)... Then when the PSA starts showing good changes they'll re-do the scans to confirm...

I'm not buying Green Bananas! But Whatever God planned is already in process... I will at least take the pills... ONLY side effect they "claim" with the pills is sore breast area and possibly nipples..that'll be different!

Whahoo!

My Dad's older Brother developed bone cancer...and he told me he'd be healed back in my early 20's... I asked him "what if he doesn't"

He just smiled, put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer and leaned over and said quietly, "Dave, even DEATH is God's perfect healing..."

It took me a long time (and a lot of aches and pains) to comprehend what he meant by that...and it's only in more recent years I can repeat it without bawling like a baby...

Doc,
My wife just told me this story she read and I believe it to be “True” and it is about a girl who had or has terminal cancer if I’m not mistaken but here it goes.
The young lady requested a “fork” be placed in her hands when she dies and it be put in her casket and placed in her hands so All will see it and ask “Why” does she have a fork in her hand?
She told this to the funeral director and he was a bit surprised and did ask as to “Why” did she want the fork placed in her hand and she requested he tell the story as to what it meant during her funeral.
When she was a little girl her Grandmother would tell her after dinner to hold on to her fork and she did because the best part (being desert )was about to
happen  and she was always excited and happy.
So she requested the fork be placed in her hand when she died because the best part is about to happen.

That's a good one.  I like it! Since I'll be toasted, I can't steal that story, but I still like it and it made me smile...
