Tundra Swan Hunt 2022
« on: January 20, 2020, 08:45:51 AM »
Tradgang a quick heads up we are working on a traditional bowhunt for Tundra Swan in eastern NC January 2021. This is a year out so plenty of time to plan.

What: Traditional bowhunting wild Tundra Swans over decoys in a field.
When: A Monday & Tuesday mornings in January 2022
Where: Eastern NC, Lake Mattamuskeet area
Why: Friends have been asking for some years now.
Cost: Around $450 which will cover two nights stay, two mornings trespass fee, scouting, decoy spread, guide, tip.

There is plenty of room - the group will be twelve minimum and we know from experience this is the best minimum number of bowhunters. Confirmation will happen in August 2021 - at that time this hunt will be confirmed or cancelled. There is an application process for a swan tag in September - it DOES require you buy a NC hunting license to be eligible to draw - AND buying the license does NOT guarantee you will draw. Odds are very good though. Most non residents in the past have drawn. If drawn for a tag there will be a 10 day period in October 2020 to pay in full (90 days before the hunt) and there are no refunds for any reason.

If you would like to join this traditional only swan hunting group - Private message me and we will get you onto our Savannah River Bow Zone page for the next steps of orientation and application.

Good hunting

I am absolutely "in" since I've been one of those people nagging you for a long time now! My buddy Bubba Graves from TX is in too.

Hmmmmm....sounds interesting.  I have a life long friend that I've hunted with forever and we've had great success on pheasants....he might be interested too.

This hunt is a lot of fun. This is a great opportunity to get LOTS of shots at birds.  I hunted January 2019 and the first and only field I hunted had 3000 birds plus or minus 1000.  Quick tip, bring chest waders. You can get by with hip waders but you’ll have much more flexibility in where you can sit and stay dry with chest waders. The ditches you’ll be sitting in might have six inches of water or three feet

I've wanted to do this for awhile. Maybe I can make it happen this time, before I get too old.

I may be interested. I used to live about an hour from there. Shot one years ago with a shot gun.

I'll have to think about this.  Close to home and I've never hunted swans before.

Cory - You're near my stomping grounds. I do most of my deer hunting near Liberty. I still have 2 brothers that live there.

garahan is in, can't find higgins - got a screen name for him?

there's a dual registration for a "terry bowling" who's never posted once in nearly 18 years ... he needs to contact us with what registration he wants and then he can get setup for SRBZ ...
