Bear take down noise

My Bear takedown bows are making a scratchy, creaking noise when I draw them. My guess is that the noise is friction in the latch area from a little bit of movement at the limb base to riser joint rubbing a little bit. Of course, this noise won't be a good thing when hunting with these bows, so I need to solve this problem. Two of my three takedowns have been making this noise -- I haven't messed with the third one yet. All three of these bows were put away for about 15 years while I couldn't shoot them, and I have recently have taken up traditional archery again. I don't remember them making any noise back in the old days. Have any of you other Bear take down owners had and solved this noise problem? If so, how did you do it?

Check the leather pad. I bet it's dried out and needs replacing.

I agree, but you might just try some saddle soap or mink oil before you tear them off.
If you do end up taking them off try a piece of Velcro for a replacement

Mine do that the first time I shoot them but after the first shot they are quiet.

Shoot them a few times with the latch open...The latch only keeps the limb from flying out if the string breaks.Open the latches and try a few shots that will tell ya if it's the leather pads.If that don't work the brace height may be to low...bowdoc

Thanks for the analysis of the noise.
I put a little silicone lube on the leather pad and in the limb socket and the bows are now back to being absolutely silent. These bows are getting pretty old and I guess things were getting a bit dried out.

Thank you everyone for the input. I always thought it was the string in the string groove making that noise. I had a Black widow that did the same thing and I would rub string wax in the groove to make the noise go away.
I also put a piece of a plastic sandwich bag between the groove in the limb and the mating metal piece in the limb socket. This helped also.
