scale question
« on: April 13, 2008, 03:49:00 PM »
I have a usx-500 balance scale. I put new batteries in it and it is off. Does anyone know  how to calibrate it? A 125 field point weights 86 grains on it now.

Thanks,
Howard

No instructions on the inside of the scale? My usc-300 does but instructs me to use the calibration weight that was included.

Basically, turn the scale on. Put the calibration weight in center of scale. press CAL key till display shows 100.0 from left to right and then shows 100.0.
Scale is ready.

Edit: mind that these are two different models, apologies if this doesnt help.

Thanks Dave, when I put the calibration weight on the scale and press the cal key it goes to 0. Put the point on and it still weights 86. Must be broken.

(I have a cheap digital scale, but I don't recall the make or model, but not had problems.)

1.  Does the scale read "0" with nothing on it?  If not, that is when to "tare" it to zero.

2.  Is the scale reading currently in "grains" mode?

3.  Does THIS field point actually weigh 86 grains?

I'm stumped.  Sort of sounds like the scale is faulty.  Maybe email the manufacturer?
