Which is your dominant eye? I would go with that as the deciding factor.
I also was a righty before an injury. I switched to left and do equally well lefty. After some time, I was able to get an operation to help me shoot right handed again. I do both, and like the idea of balancing out my muscles. I am right eye dominant, so I need to shut one eye when shooting lefty, but I like doing both. Why choose?
I am quite left eye dominant, but I won’t even try a left handed bow. For anything other than holding stuff, my left hand is completely useless. I have no dexterity and agility with it, and can’t imagine trying to release a string with it.Now put a rifle in that same hand and I’m good to go, but that requires next to no finesse.
Embrace the ambi ! I was strongly left handed and footed for most of my life...except playing guitar. After Lasik surgery in my late 30's I started to become more and and more RED. Now I am very much RED. I took a 26# RH Howatt Ventura and started shooting RH and did it until I was pretty good. Then I started shooting LH now and then. Now I shoot both, sometimes alternate every other shot .My dual shelf 1956 Kodiak is my ambidextrous secret weapon. The hardest thing, now, is to remember whether I'm shooting LH or RH ...sometimes I grab the wrong tab or quiver.
