Folks have been using tennis racket and golf handle wraps for bow handle wraps for a while now.

Yeah If the tape gets moist or wet then little pieces with kinda "flake" off the tape and you'll have your hand covered in dusty little tape pieces.  There are better options out there but if it works for you, it works!

A good product to use is called "Lizard Skins".

X2 on the lizard skins - they're usually sold for wrapping baseball bat grips.

I've used tennis grip tape on an old Buffalo riser years ago. But golf grip tape? They haven't made that since Ben Hogan was a boy.  :biglaugh:

I like the tape because it is very thin.

I love hockey tape on my grip, the stickier the better.

I use hockey tape a lot because I play hockey, the stuff gets nasty. Sticky, kinda starts to decompose, and flakes, and holds scent. Of course the scent is problem from my stinky gloves.

I play hockey too but i dont think shooting for even an hour in the heat could make that tape as nasty as a hockey glove could. Theres nothing in the world as bad as a hockey glove!!

I have had good results with gt-5000 grip tape.  This is usually used on pistol grips but has worked great on my Bear, very durable and seems to be unaffected by warm temps and moisture.

Heres why i really like it. I bought a used bow and needed to build up the throat but didnt want the heel any thicker. I built up the throat with about 6 pieces of tape and then did my final wrap all the way down. This gave me the thicker throat while keeping the heel the same size. If it gets nasty i could always change it.

I found that the glue oozes and you get some of it on your hand.  I coat it with baking soda if the glue starts to seep.

Ever tried rescue tape? It's like a very thin silicone tape, no adhesive and will stick to the grip and itself.

Velcro has been used extensively for bow shelves and side  plate. The soft hooked side is used while the rough hooked side is typically discarded.

Have been using the hook side on the throat and grip faces for quite some time. Has performed flawlessly shooting hot  and humid summer 3D's  and all thru the Turkey and deer season.

I've been using vet wrap for quite a few years now.
It stretches better than tape to conform to the riser grip and comes off easy with very little residue.
