B55 vs B50

I'm finally making the change from B50 to B55 for my older bows.  So how much different is this new stuff?  Will I need to adjust my string lengths?  Is the strand diameter different and will I need to adjust for nock fit?  Should my strand count stay the same?  Thanks guys!

I use both on selfbows. B55 seem to be slightly thinner than B-50. Other than that I haven't noticed a difference. Chad Weaver(LBR) is one of the string experts here and can give you a more knowledgeable answer to your questions.

Just wonder why someone would switch from 50 to 55...

B 55 has somewhat lower stretch and is a bit stronger.

I've generally switched to low stretch strings, but when I make a B55 string, I use 2 strands less than I did for B50.  That necessitates a different serving thread size.  Otherwise, the two are close enough in diameter that one wouldn't necessarily have to change serving thread diameter if you stayed with the same number of strands of B55.

I have used both.I had my strings built by stringmakers.

From what I remember.It seems my currant 12 strand B-50 is a little fatter than the last 12 strand B-55 string I had.Pretty sure.But not positive.

B50 was made by Brownells who closed up a year ago. Recently bought by a foreign company - chances of a quick return to the market is slim and B50 will probably be near the last product they bring back based on sales.

B55 is made by BCY and available everywhere. Has been around nearly as long as b50 and is accepted as safe on all bows. Many say it has a bit less stretch and the colors are better.
